About

headshotFollowing more than 30 years as a Wall Street analyst, I now have a private practice in Tucson, Arizona as a teacher and consultant to individual investors. I show my clients that whether their portfolios are large or small, whether the market is up or down, they can use the basic tools of research and an understanding of company fundamentals to pick winners the same way the pros do.

I also write a monthly column on investing for “Inside Tucson Business”.

I have worked at some of the nation’s leading financial institutions including Neuberger Berman (New York), one of Wall Street’s oldest and most respected asset managers, where I was a senior securities analyst, RepublicBank Dallas where I followed overseas economies, and Virginia National Bank, where I created the research department and served as Director of Research. I was also a partner at Branche Research Group where I researched insurance equities and consulted to institutional investors. I am a Chartered Financial Analyst and licensed in the state of Arizona as an Investment Advisor.

Many investors were caught up in the dot.com, telecommunications and technology bubble and subsequent collapse. Investors also fell victim to the accounting and conflict of interest scandals, of which Enron and WorldCom were most notable. People lost their life savings. This is why I started my practice, which is based on my belief that:

“The highest risk for an investor is not stocks, but the lack of knowledge.”

I created the Company Stock Risk Profile, which is founded on three principles, or the Cornerstones of Company Stock Risk Profiling:

  • You do not have to rely on others to invest your money. If you do, you must have the knowledge to be in control.
  • You have the tools to do your own company and stock research.
  • Your powers of observation and common sense supported by objectivity and discipline are at the core of successful investing.

Organized, objective and disciplined, the Company Stock Risk Profile is a powerful research tool based on fundamental analysis. It is a comprehensive research process that takes the individual investor through ten key variables:

  1. The Company and its Market Position
  2. Balance Sheet
  3. Cash Flow
  4. Earnings
  5. Profitability
  6. Dividends
  7. Controversial Issues
  8. Valuation
  9. What Does Management Think?
  10. What Does the Street Think?

After completing the Company Stock Risk Profile you will have the knowledge about the stock you are buying or already own, and most important an understanding of the risk you are taking.

I also created the Company Stock Risk Profile Fast Track to quickly screen for stock ideas.

I will have an investment guide based on Company Stock Risk Profiling available through my blog as soon as it is ready for publication.
